World Trade Center and Pentagon attacked by terrorists

September 11, 2001: 19 Terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes in a coordinated attack. Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center towers in New York, one struck the Pentagon, and the fourth crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers resisted the hijackers. Nearly 3,000 people were killed, making it one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in history.
